Norse Midcentury Media Console

Our client was a big fan of our Fenris Wolf box and wanted to incorporate it into a media console. We decided that the best way to do that would be to create custom door panels. For the overall design of the media console, we took inspiration from the angular designs of midcentury modern (especially for the base). The body is constructed from Ambrosia Maple, a unique wood whose random patterns come from the channels of burrowing Ambrosia Beetles.

We wanted to add some contrast to the overall design, so we incorporated walnut shelves and a walnut top which tied the design into the Fenris Wolf design and provided a nice pairing with the white and yellow tones of the Ambrosia Maple. The client is a gamer, so we made cutouts in the door panels to help prevent their consoles from overheating. Each door also features custom double walnut splines on each corner and hand turned custom door handles.

The cabinet is approximately 48” wide x 29” tall x 13” deep. The walnut top is 2” thick and features a unique crack that we patched with custom butterflies that are intended to invoke the spirit of the gamer (see the one that’s an X).
